Symantec Internet Security

Hi there,

I recently installed Symantec Internet Security 2005 and it broke my shares in my small workgroup set up. I have about 8 machines, running xo pro and home, and users access shares on almost all of them. After installing IS 2005 I can't access them unless I turn off the Fire Wall setting.

How do I go around this issue without turning this off. I don't want to be unprotected.

thanks for your help.

I will tell you this now.... NIS is horrible. When I worked for Verizon one of the first questions I asked when it was a connection issue.... "do you have Norton Internet Security installed?" 9 times outta 10, that was the problem it seemed.

But check this site out... http://www.netfaqs.com/ it has pictures that can at least give you a hint at where to go to find the information.

I have never used the software but most firewalls have a zones function where you can specify "trusted" IP addresses. You may be able to add the local machines as an exception allowing transfer of data between machines on your network while still filtering external traffic. I could be miles off, but it is just an idea.
