Snippet: Fixing Codec problems.
Sometimes when playing a video file you might run into a problem whereby the video will either refuse to run, citing a 'missing codec' as the problem, or will run but either the sound or the picture will be missing or problematic. This issue is caused by your system missing codecs. A codec is the algorithm, or list of instructions that tells your system how to decode the video file and produce a valid picture and audio signal. One of the best packs of codecs available is the 'K-lite pack'. Download and install this pack and all your codec problems should go away

I did that for MPEG2 (DVD) as I also use the Nvidia Pure video decoder. Video looks fantastic with my old 6800GTOC.
1. Ease of use.
2. Many, many codecs.
3. One neat package.
But it has disadvantages:
1. The codecs are often out of date.
2. It promotes system clutter.
3. It installs unnecessary codecs.
4. The codecs it installs may not be the best for that file type.
It's always best to choose your codecs by hand.

And if you need something else, you have one funny-ass video on hand.
I'm going to weed out the dross and see how it goes with this lineup. Thanks, man!
