15k SCSI drive and adapters

edited March 2006 in Hardware
I'm looking for 15rpm HD's to get. But their controllers are more expensive than the drives.

I've chosen between the
HITACHI Ultrastar 15K147 36.7GB 15,000 RPM 16MB 68-pin Ultra320
HITACHI Ultrastar 15K147 36.7GB 15,000 RPM 16MB SAS(Serial SCSI)

The SAS controller is $251 so I'm going with the Ultra320. I have a question about the choice of controllers for the drive:

Can you still connect a Ultra320 drive up to a Ultra160 or SCSI-3 controller? Since it's only 1 Drive I won't need 320MB/Sec pipeline since the drive can only pump out 60-90MB/s anyways.

EDIT: Fixed product error

Would both these controllers work?
This controller only supports up to SCSI-3 133MB/Sec Transfer rates:
ACARD AEC-6712UW PCI SCSI Ultra Wide Adapter Card - Retail

This controller only supports up to Ultra160 160MB/Sec Transfer rates:
ACARD AEC-67162 PCI SCSI 2-Channel Ultra160

Sorry about that, I fixed the first link.

Would a SATAI cable work on a SATAII HD?
Would a SCSI Ultra160 68 pin cable work connecting an Ultra160 68 pin controller to an Ultra320 68 pin HD?
Would a SCSI Ultra320 68 pin cable work connecting an Ultra160 68 pin controller to an Ultra320 68 pin HD?
    Thanks for the help.

Quite frankly if you want scsi then pick up a U320 or U160 controller off ebay or the like. They are dirt cheap, I sold my LSI U160 controller for £16 yesterday.

Depending on where you are and if you still want SCSI stuff to get started, I've got a bunch of stuff sitting around that would look a lot better in someone else's computer than on my shelves!! Just let me know and I'll put together a list.

Been here a while and some would say I'm an honest guy!!
