ATI Radeon 9100 IGP Platform

edited October 2003 in Science & Tech
Beyond3d have very luckily had the chance to review the new ATI Radeon IGP motherboard platform..

"We’ve put the board through its paces in a series of tests looking at system and high end gaming performance, and also a full run down of the integrated graphics performance. Not only do we compare the integrated graphics against Intel's 865 platform, but a range of low end discrete boards as well - can integrated graphics be faster than a modern add-in board...? "

"As we can see the graphics for the RS300 chip has been cut back to two pixel pipelines in order to keep its complexity, thus cost, as low as possible. However, this allows the clock speeds to scale up to 300MHz, in turn regaining a small amount of the performance deficit to the 9000/9200 discrete graphics chips. The hardware Vertex Shader unit has also been removed to, again, keep the complexity to a minimum."
