Updating nf4 nvidia drivers

I want to update my nforce4 drivers, and i want to do it 'in a clean way' as i know sometimes just deleting the driver and install the new one doesnt make the better and cleaner job.

Any advice on what else i should do ? I've search for a quick and drity guide on the net but i've found nothing
