    Sorry for the wait.

    Before we begin, you need to move HJT to its own folder on your desktop or Program Files folder. Currently, it is here:

    C:\DOCUME~1\BARRYP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory 4 for hijackthis.zip\HijackThis.exe

    OR, do the following to install HJT to the correct location

    Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
    Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
    • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    • Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Please post a new log. :)

    Let me know if you still are having problems.

    Thanks for getting back to me. I have followed your above directions. I have posted a new log and a Panda Scan and a Edwardo Mal ware report as well. I hope they are useful. What do I do now???

    Before we begin, can you tell me if you recognise this IP?

    85.255.115.75

    From what I have researched, it is coming from Ukraine, which is a sign of the Wareout infection.

    Let me know. :)

    Wareout is a program that says can clean your computer and possibly installs several Trojans, etc. It has rookit capabilities.

    The IP address is slightly different to the normal signs for the infection. Before we determine that is what it is, can you do the following please.

    Go to Start > Run > type cmd > in the new window type ipconfig. Please post the info here.

    Please go here and tell me what is listed. If you don't want to post the info here, you can PM.

    Sorry for the delay. I was away for the weekend. :)

    Please read these instructions carefully and print them out! Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

    Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
    Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

    Go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and uninstall the following if they exist:

    AlfaCleaner.com
    Desktop Uninstall

    If any of the uninstallers ask you to reboot your computer, do not reboot at this time.

    Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
    1. Restart your computer
    2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
    Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items if they are present and click 'Fix Checked':

    ===================================================
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intell321.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\intell321.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlfaCleaner] C:\Program Files\AlfaCleaner\AlfaCleaner.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe
    O23 - Service: AlfaCleanerService - AlfaCleaner.com - C:\Program Files\AlfaCleaner\ACServer.exe

    ===================================================

    Delete the following files and folders if they exist (Do not be concerned if they do not exist):

    C:\Program Files\AlfaCleaner << this folder
    C:\Windows\System32\intell321.exe << this file
    C:\Windows\System32\voi640.exe << this file
    C:\Windows\warnhp.html << this file
    c:\winstall.exe << this file
    C:\Windows\uninstDsk.exe << this file
    C:\Windows\System32\voi271.exe << this file

    Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
    Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
    The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

    Reboot back into Windows and do the following:
    Start Internet Explorer and click on the Tools menu and then select the Internet Options menu option.

    Click on the Programs tab and then click the Reset Web Settings button.

    Press the Apply button and then OK.

    Click on the Start button and then click Run.

    Type control.exe in the Open field and press enter on your keyboard.

    When in the Control Panel double-click on the Display icon.

    Click on the Desktop tab and then click on the Customize Desktop button.

    Click on the Web tab and under Web Pages you should see an entry that says Security Info or something similar. If i is there, select the entry and press the Delete button.

    Press the OK button and the Apply button and then the OK button again.

    Post a new HJT log and let me know how things are. :)

    Hey man, thanks a lot for your time. I followed the directions as best I could. I was not able to find any of the files you listed, except for perhaps the file: windows/uninstdsk. Also, I was not able to find the Web pages security info icon, and thus I could not delete this.

    I am posting the smitfiles log, Panda scan and the HJthis log, which is at the bottom of my post... Please let me know what you think. I think I am clean, right???????:eek3: Also, you'll see I have a lot of ADware **** around. What do you rec. to get it thrown away?

    Just a bit left to do:

    Go into Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the following:

    MyWebSearch
    MyWaySA

    ================================================================

    Can you disable/close Spyware Doctor for now, as it may interfere with the following fix.

    Next, open HijackThis
    - Click the Do a system scan only button
    - Check the following entries (below)

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank

    R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4D25F921-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll (file missing)

    - Close ALL open windows (especially Internet Explorer!)
    Click Fix Checked

    ================================================================

    Find and Delete the following:

    C:\Program Files\MyWaySA << this folder

    Please reboot and continue below.

    ================================================================

    Update your Java.
    Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
    Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
    • Close any programmes you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
    • Click Start > Control Panel.
    • Click Add/Remove Programs.
    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
    • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
    Then download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment, and install it to your computer

    ================================================================

    Reboot and post a new HJT log :)

    Hey man, thanks again for all you help:
    The hijack log looks better, but I can not UNinstall the files you mentioned in you last set of directions because when I go into ad/remove programs (under my computer) and click on remove "mysearchassistant" and "need2find" I get the following computer message: "loading error ..." then "the specified module could not be found".

    I also looked under program files for them, as well as lookiing for the files "mywaysa" and "mywebseach", but I am unable to find them. Whats going on????????????????

    Lastly, it could just be because I am computer stupid, but I can not find where it lists the JAVA run environment on the programs ad/remove screen???

    The hijack log looks better, but I can not UNinstall the files you mentioned in you last set of directions because when I go into ad/remove programs (under my computer) and click on remove "mysearchassistant" and "need2find" I get the following computer message: "loading error ..." then "the specified module could not be found".

    Have a look in Safe Mode. If you cannot find the folder, it doesnt matter.
    Lastly, it could just be because I am computer stupid, but I can not find where it lists the JAVA run environment on the programs ad/remove screen???
    Did you check properly? Do this:
    • Open HJT
    • Click on Open the Misc Tools section
    • Press Open Uninstall Manager on the left
    • Press Save List and post the contents here
    ================================================================

    Could you remove this entry with HJT:

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{3BE2CDA5-6573-4183-AC6C-13CF51153677}: NameServer = 85.255.115.75

    The IP is pointing to Ukraine and that is not right

    ================================================================

    We need to view hidden files and folders:
    • Click Start.
    • Open My Computer.
    • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    • Select the View Tab.
    • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    • Click Yes to confirm.
    • Click OK.

    Find and Delete the following, if found:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dgprpsetup.exe << this file
    C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES\f3initialsetup1.0.0.8.inf << this file
    C:\WINDOWS\GatorPdpLoudInstaller.log << this file
    C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\LOCALSERVICE\APPLICATION DATA\NetMon << this folder
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\f3initialsetup1.0.0.8.inf << this file

    ================================================================

    Reboot and post a new HJT log please :)

    No problem about the delay. :)

    Can you run this scan again please:

    Panda ActiveScan

    - Once you are on the Panda site, click the Scan your PC button
    - A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    - Enter your Country
    - Enter your State/Province
    - Enter your e-mail address and click send
    - Select either Home User or Company
    - Click the big Scan Now button
    - If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    - It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    - When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
    - When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

    Post the contents of the Panda scan report.

    Now I need to see a different type of log from Hijackthis
    • Run Hijackthis.
    • Click on "Open the Misc Tools section".
    • Next click on "Open uninstall manager".
    • Press the button 'save list'. It will open a Notepad file.
    • Place the content of that file here in your in your next post.

    Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options.
    Under the General tab click the Delete Files... button; check the Delete all offline content box and press OK. Next, click the Delete Cookies... button and press OK

    Go to "Start" -> "Run" and type in the box: "cleanmgr" press OK. Select the drive where your Operating System is installed (Default is C:) and press OK. Let Disk Cleanup scan your system for files to remove (it takes a few minutes!). On the next screen make sure these 3 options are checked and then press "OK" to remove:
    • Temporary Files
    • Temporary Internet Files
    • Recycle Bin
    ================================================================

    • Click OK.

    ================================================================

    Find and Delete the following, if found:

    C:\windows\downloaded program files\f3initialsetup1.0.0.8.inf << this file
    C:\windows\GatorPdpLoudInstaller.log << this file
    C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch << this folder
    C:\Program Files\Need2Find << this folder

    ================================================================

    Go into Add/Remove programs and uninstall Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.3, as that is an old version.

    Download Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 from here.
    1. Download and Install Spybot S&D (if you haven't already), accept the Default Settings
    2. In the Menu Bar at the top of the Spybot window you will see 'Mode'.
      Make certain that 'default mode' has a check mark beside it.
    3. Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
    4. Click the button to ‘Search for Updates’ then download and install the updates.
    5. Next click the button ‘Check for Problems'
    6. When Spybot is complete, it will be showing 'RED' entries, bold 'BLACK' entries and 'GREEN' entries in the window

    Your HJT log is clean. :thumbsup:

    Let me know how things are and if we can mark this resolved? :)

    Here are some measures you can take to stay more secure online:

    Secure your Internet Explorer by going here and following the instructions there.

    Better yet, use an alternative browser! Download FireFox and give it a run. It is far more secure than Internet Explorer. Or, you can get Opera which in my opinion, is better still.

    Use a firewall to help prevent your PC(s) from being usurped by undesireables. If you don't have a Firewall, then choose one from the list here

    Install an Anti-Virus. There are some good, free AV's available today. Make sure that it is updated regularly and have it scan your system often. If you don't have an Anti-Virus program, choose one from the list here

    Install and keep updated, Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search & Destroy.
    Run them both on a regular basis, following the manufacturer's recommendations.

    Install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard

    Check for Windows Updates. Microsoft regularly post updates for your systems safe running. Make sure to take advantage of this. Reboot when installed and return to make sure there are no others.

    Clear your Temp folders.

    Also, go to Start > Find/Search > Files or folders > in the named box, type: *.tmp and choose Edit > select all -> File > delete.

    Empty/delete the entire contents from the following folders:

    C:\Windows\temp
    C:\temp <-- if you have one.
    Note: Empty contents but don't delete the folder(s) itself.

    Clear out temp files from the following location. Change "username" to whatever you have on your computer.

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\

    In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

    Empty the Recycle Bin!

    Hide system files
    It is very important that system files and folders are hidden again, so that they DO NOT get deleted by mistake. To hide system files and folders, do the following for your operating system...

    Windows XP
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading, uncheck Do not show hidden files and folders
    * Check the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

    For XP users.
    After something like this it is a good idea to Flush the Restore Points and start fresh.
    To flush the XP system Restore Points.

    Go to Start | Run | type msconfig | Press Enter.

    When msconfig opens, click the Launch System Restore Button.
    On the next page, click the System Restore Settings link on the left.

    Check the box labelled 'Turn off System restore'.

    Reboot! Go back in and Turn System Restore Back on. A new Restore Point will be created automatically.

    Note that all previous restore points will be lost.
