AMD AM2 Prices Emerge

We have heard some rather interesting info on AMD's new range of Socket AM2 processors. According to internal AMD documents, system builders will be able to purchase the new AM2 processor starting on May 15th. Dual core and single core Athlon 64 processors will be available as well as 64-bit Sempron processors.

AMD's Athlon 64 FX-62 will be the company's top desktop offering for the remainder of the year. It is not until Q1 of 2007 that we will see the FX-64 hit the market. All other AM2 processors are officially under embargo until June 6, 2006.

    That's way out of my budget, too. But honestly, if you were rolling in dough - wouldn't you go for it? I sure as heck would. :respect::leet:

    It looks like the budget end Sempy's will be priced for those longing for the old days of cheap CPU's.

    That's OEM pricing... I'm not sure how much they will go up for retail. I'm sure Newegg and such will offer OEM CPU's but they need to make a profit.

    Still... I'd say a low-end Sempron will still be under $100.... not bad!!!
