Missing DLL for oblivion?

Okay, si i install oblivion, not teribly complicated, and try to play it, and soon as I hit play from the file menu, it throws an error:

It looks like a direct x dll to me.:mad2:

    Are you picking not to install directx? Pick to install it next time you install and it should be ok, you shouldnt even need to restart.

    I'd suggest the same - tell it to install DX#. It could also be a corrupt download.

    i did, thats what i figured it was. it didnt ask me to when i installed it, or else i missed it, but it had the Dx install files on the disc, what i cant figure out is that I thought i already had the latest version of Dx9. maybe not. but its working not since last night.

    From what I hear the direct x SDKs screw with that file. For every new release that file is different. Most of the time it doesnt matter but if a game is expecting a different version then the problems start.
