Major CPU Lag!

Ok so a few days ago my computer was restarted and windows loaded very slow. After if loaded I continued on with my normal everyday stuff. Then I began noticing that everything was very laggy and I could only run one thing at a time. Like I could not use firefox and watch a movie at the same time. So then I checked Task Manager and found that System Idle Process was using 98 CPU, then I got concerned and I ran 3 different AV scans. They detected nothing. So next I deleted and uninstalled everything that I do not use on a day-to-day basis, and I emptied my Temp folder. I still have the same problem and it is preventing my from almost all my computer activites. To top it all off, I just restarted my computer and my Processor(AMD Athlon FX 4200+) is now Unknown Processor Type. Any idea's on how to fix my problem or just thoughts? Thanks.

Seems u have crap loads of programs running, maybe u have Spywares too.

Cleaning unessary stuff..hmmm...MS's Disk Clean Up is crap, Get Crap Cleaner! it cleans more crap than MS Disk Clean Up.

    Grab it here:

    Clicky

and grab some Anti spyware programs.

    Choices:

    SpyBot S&D
    Ad-Aware SE Personal
    SpywareBlaster
    Cwshredder

    Your choice. ;)

and last...Get *Startup Inspector for Windows* (google it) or....use Spybot S&D's Built in one and delete unessary *startup* programs.

    just my 100 cents xD :) .

Move this over to the spyware/security forum and have an expert look at that log. There is a lot of stuff that I am not familiar with.

I'm not sure about the HJT log, but system idle process at 98% means the cpu is doing almost nothing. If you aren't running any system intensive apps, like Folding at Home, your machine should show a high system idle process. Can you gives some specs on your machine for us? I'm wondering about temps specifically; if the temps are pretty high, the mobo might be throttling the cpu down to a real low speed. Most motherboards have that feature in the bios, where it throttles the processor if the temps get past a certain threshold.

Get rid of the spyware if you have it, (sounds like you do) and in your start window click "run" and type in msconfig, when the new window pops up click where it says starup, uncheck anything that you know you don't always want to be running all of the time and they wont boot at startup and will save a lot of ram. after running any spyware program you probably will still have to go in to add/remove programs and remove installed spyware programs like 180 serch assistant and bullseye and crap like that (you can tell iv'e had this problem before). As for your unknown processer type, I don't know, you may have a hardware issue and see if your system is still under warrenty and see if you have tech support for your system who can answer that question.

I could be wrong, but other than the usual useless stuff I don't see anything malicious in your log. The one exception might be WinHTTrack, but if you are knowingly running the program it is not a problem.

I'd definitely check this idea out. Do what muddocktor said about posting your specs and temps. Check the BIOS, too, to see if there is any of that "Cool 'n Quiet" type stuff enabled.

At Techsweden there is another user with the similar symptom, "windows loads very slowly".
His system suddenly started too make long system boot.
They suspect bios failure, but I'm not so certain about that.

I'll suspect motherboard or CPU problem.
Your motherboard probably has some diagnostic led's, please see if you can retrieve some information from them.

I'll take it that your CPU is the AMD X2 4200 (dual-core).

Also enter your bios menu and see what it detects.
"Unknown Processor Type" is not a good thing.
    Please check the CPU temperature.

When you are at it, make an CMOS reset.

Please inform us about the rest of your hardware and bios version.
Also give us some history about your computer, how long time you has being using it etc.
    It helps us helping you.

    Edit 22 April,
The problem at Techsweden was due to SLI graphic cards. (DFI motherboard)
    When removed it worked.

Ok sorry for the wait on posting I've been very busy. Here are my Specs:
    Processor: AMD Athlon XP 4200+ @ 2.0GHz
    Memmory: 1.5 GB DDR-400
    HD: SeaGate 200GB SATA
Motherboard: Albatron Socket 462 Mainboard KX600
OS: Windows XP Home Edition SP2
    BIOS Version/Date: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00PG, 7/21/2003
    SMBIOS Version: 2.3
If you need anything else let me know. I built this along time ago, so there really isn't any waranty on it.
Esso I use my computer 24/7 everyother week, on the week that I'm off I try to fold but sometimes I shut my computer off. I have had this computer for nine years but 2-3 years ago I rebuilt parts of it. I ran some checks and found nothing for spyware and only 2 virii but I knew off them and they were no harm....no one else had any control of them (servers). I'm going to take a look at my bios and report back.

Some times at the start up sequence it takes longer times due to instability caused by some hardware problem.

Windows can be occupied with HW problem.

First thing is to check the voltage from the PSU.
And check that Bios menu detects everything correctly.

Test your memory, harddisk etc. with Ultimate Boot CD 3.2 found here,
    http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Maybe one memory stick has gone bad ?

    Good,
Backdoors are not always a bad thing under attack, but in your case it seems too

Don't trust the voltage reading through the Bios, use the voltage meter if you got one.

What do u mean Esso, I used BIOS then I re-checked them against PC Wizard's readings and they are the same. Also are those temps normal, I think they are but I'm not positive...I'm going to do some more research.
Edit: I did some researching and found some info out and essco u were right, I should not trust my BIOS read-outs. But it seems that my CPU Temp is fine and I tested it pysically...putting finger on CPU...and its fine. So I'm still lost on what to do.

In my house in the north of Sweden we had an backdoor out the house ....
Good for getting away in case of fire, and I almost put the house on fire when I was 5 :sweflag:

I didn't told you that it was the backdoor that almost went up in fire, so my father has to use the front door to put the clothes out of fire.
They abruptly took the burning candle out of my hand even though I was the one that told them there was a fire going on ....
Some parents wouldn't you say ..

Well when getting the real voltage reading, the best way is to use one voltage meter and measure the voltage from the PSU unit.
