JP Morgan Chase Predicts AMD Profitability
Well the end of the year is nearly upon us. And few companies stand to gain as much as AMD from the improvement in the fortunes of the flash business. About half of AMD's $2.6 billion in 2002 sales came from flash memory. Danely says its flash inventory is sold out through the end of the calendar year. Given that AMD recently bought of much of the flash manufacturing capacity it operated jointly with Fujitsu, Danely says it's possible that AMD could see flash sales jump by 100% in the third quarter. That could help AMD, Danely says, "flirt with profitability" in the fourth quarter, something it hasn't done since mid-2001.
