:nudge: Hey Ladies and Gentlemen,

Yet another problem. I need to wipe my dad's computer so I can reinstall XP. However, the mobo support CD doesn't work with XP. I will need to reinstall the drivers and have not been able to find them. The closest thing that I can find is the Intel Chipset Software Utility. Will this install the appropriate drivers.

Also, windows can't find the drivers for the ATM network controller. I don;'t know if this is what causing the problems with the net or not. Sometimes it works well and sometimes it just freezes and won't load crap.

PIII 800mhz
512 kingston PC100 ram
Windows 98 has been on it for about 6 years. Recently upgraded to XP home. Formatting the HD and then reistalling should speed things up right?

Long problem, sorry.
Thanks for the help,

A computer that old has all the drivers built right in to Windows XP. You won't need any manufacturer's drivers, esp. for the BX chipset.

Let me get this straight: Did you already do the clean reinstall? Or are you operating on the upgrade?

Upgrading never works out right. Do a fresh, clean install and it will work great unless something (hardware) is broken.

    alright cool
He is running on the upgrade right now. My mom was freaking out about not ruining the computer. We are just going to do it. She can only be mad for a little while, right?

    Thanks man,
