Ok i know this is a very broad question, but could anyone direct me towards information on how physics engines in general work in videogames? I understand that objects are given mass, volume and stuff like that, but what I dont understand is how they actually define these values and create gravity. The weirdest part to me is how they actually create gravity, and somehow define what it is. I've checked wikipedia, but thats just broad overview. I was looking for something a little in depth. Also, sorry if its in the wrong section, i figured gaming would be fine since thats what its about.

GameDev.net has a wealth of information (articles & tutorials) about... believe it or not... game development.

Here's a link to one in particular about gravity.

Hopefully this sheds a little light on the subject for you. There are many other articles there about the other aspects of physics engines and any other stage of game development you can imagine (and many you wouldn't think of).
