Age of Empires II

edited April 2006 in Gaming
I have had age of empires II installed from the actual CD from Microsoft for quite some time now. I let my friend borrow the game and I still want to play a bit. I was wondering if there was a way for me to use DAEMON tools to play it without the CD.

Thanks for the help!

I can answer that, but I'd rather wait for permission from prof, or prime or one of the other admins.

AOE II is my favorite game of all time. A couple of years ago I tried a program which allowed one to play without inserting the CD. I actually have two copies of the disc (wore one out; bought a second), but I thought I'd simplify things by not having to fumble around for the CD every time I wanted to play - which is a LOT. I quit doing it after one game because doing it that way didn't give me the music part of the game.

The problem with your specific question is that you have loaned your game to someone else. That's fine all by itself, but it's a clear violation of the licensing agreement for you to keep playing the game yourself while someone else is using the copy you have paid for. I'm sorry, but we can't help you do that.

My advice would be to have your friend pick up a copy of his own and give yours back to you. The game has been out long enough that it's dirt-cheap these days. A while back I bought my nephews the "Gold" edition which comes with a hint book and The Conquerors expansion pack for about $20.

BTW: Thanks for showing good judgement, SCAR.

    No problem Prof!:headbange
Yea, I saw a copy of the base game and all the originals at EB Games for 14.99 preowned. And since you can trade, just give them one of the games you don't play and you should get it for $5 if not free. If there's no EB Games around you, go to GameStop or go online. Newegg always does good with prices if you want brand new.

I personally use no-cds for every game I play/use (unless I'm playing it constantly and it's brand new, then I leave that CD in normally) simply becuse switching CDs all the time annoys me, and now that I use Linux mainly the copy protection doesn't work even with the CD in due to their hacky API calls and such (when I use Wine or Cedega to run them).
