XP unable to boot in normal mode, master/slaves not detected

I'm not really knowledgable on the hardware and setting up a PC stuff, but my uncle has this problem so I was hoping you guys can help me out. He's got this problem where:

1. When the PC boots up, it usually detects the Primary/Secondary slave and master drives. The problems is that I've checked the BIOS, and it turns out that they are installed, but when DOS runs the detection, it turns up as 'Not Detected'

2. Windows XP is unable to load in normal mode. The PC would go to the loading screen, then flash a blue screen that has a chunk of numbers on it (about half the screen), then reboot. It's kinda hard to see what's on the blue screen, since it only flashes up for a millisecond.

This is under some SCSI thingy I got to in MS-DOS by hitting TAB on the bootup.

Go to System>>Advanced>>Startup and Recovery and uncheck the box marked "Automatically Restart" in the "System Failure" area.

This should allow the BSOD to remain on the screen. Write down the exact error message and post it here.

That is probably perfectly normal. It sounds like his motherboard has an onboard SCSI (or possibly SATA) Controller with nothing attached to it. Check the BIOS and see what is listed under the IDE Controller section.
