AMDK8.SYS Makes me unbootable, disabling ups CPU temps by 20*C!

Hi guys, new to these forums...

Well basically the AMDK8.sys driver which afaik controls cool n quiet is giving me an irql_not_less_or_equal bsod when I run my Opty 165 at 295+ FSB, at first I thought it was an IDE problem but then as i read on another thread on this board that it could be AMDK8.sys, I disabled it, and hey presto the system booted fine, but my idle temps went up from 32*C to 49*C which is rather worrying to say the least. So if anyone's got some ideas I'd appreciate it.

Ok so I've just found out that it's basically stuck at load temps, under load its the same temp as idle if that helps...

49C at idle for that CPU is not exactly great, but it's nowhere near dangerous. What program are you using to monitor the temperatures?

I uninstalled the AMD CPU drivers and my temps dropped back to what they were before (I'm using ABIT uGuru) but now I can't get my HTT stable above 280.

    BSODs I've had are:

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    for NV4_MINI.sys

    and

    AMDK8.sys 0x000000D1 ( 0xF7713332, 0x000000FF, 0x00000001, 0x807F2F7A)

one which was just 0x0000007F ( All zeros.. )

And then just now after removing the AMD drivers I got a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD.

    My setup is:

    Opty 165, Currently @ 280 * 9, 3x HTT
    ABIT Fatal1ty AN8
    2x 512MB KingMax Hardcore DDR 500 @ 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 8, 1T, (DDR333 Divider)
    BFG 7900GT @ 530 / 900 unmodded
    2x IDE HDDs
    2x IDE Optical Drives
    XP SP2

I've got it running at 2.6Ghz now (289 x 9) not sure how stable it is yet, have only ran OCCT for 10 mins, going to run the torture test overnight, but I'd really like to get it to 2.7Ghz (300x9). Since uninstalling the AMD Drivers I havn't had any BSODs for a while, and windows will boot at 300 x 9 if I bump up some voltages, but it runs for a few seconds then either fully freezes, or everything freezes but the mouse...
