Windows Update ActiveX Problem

I'm working on my COO's home machine. He's running XP HE w/ SP1

It had some spyware, not as bad as some I've seen.

Having a problem with Windows Update.

Keep getting this error:

"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result , this page may not display properly."

I have lowered ALL security settings, ActiveX, Java, everything to LOWEST settings.. Yet I still get this error.

Anyone know the registry hacks to allow me to install all ActiveX controls?

I've experienced that before with a spyware-infested machine, and a repair install took care of the problem.
