6DoF Motion Controllers
So I just bought Sledge's old Spaceball 5000 6DoF motion controller. My main OS is Gentoo Linux and I don't have (m)any of the "supported" software on the 3dconnexion site. I downloaded their Linux driver for x64 and am less than impressed. It doesn't come with a manual so I have no idea what any of the Generic X application support does.
The Spaceball shows up in dmesg as a USB Human Interface Device and udev makes a new event device for it so I can pull raw information from it. Unfortunately, the Spaceball doesn't belong to the joystick subclass so jscalibrator can't see it. What I'd like to do is at least get it working as a 6-axis 12-button controller. Any ideas?
