How to recover "cut" document in MS 2003?

edited May 2006 in Science & Tech
I would like to know how to recover a "cut" document older than recent 24 items on clipboard (WinXP Home, MS Office 2003). Since the clipboard shows only recent 24 items, I cannot recover the one older than recent 24 "cut" or "copied" items. I thought I saved a document after I pasted the "cut" item, but my mistake, I did not actually paste the item then saved the document.

I would profoundly appreciate if anyone would help me on this issue.
I am awaiting your beneficient assistance!

You might want to try a program like this one and see what it comes up with. :)

    Thank you for the link!
I tried to use those data recovery programs, but it recommends to install the program into a second hard drive containing no data to be recovered, or into a floppy disk. I do not have a second hard drive and floppy drive, so I attempted to install the program into CD-R (D drive), but the program could not be installed into the CD. :sad2:

I would be grateful if anyone would introduce me a data recovery program installable into CD (D drive), or give me any other ideas to recover the "cut" document.

I am expecting your generous support!

it might be in one of the temp directories.

they way it works is if you copy/cut 24 items, when you copy/cut 1 more it over writes what was in position 1. also when you close the program Winword, it should purge the clipboard except for the most recent item you copied to the clipboard.

you might be able to find a clipboard manager for the future, but i dont think its gonna be possible to get the old stuff back.

the way that the recovery software works, is when you delete a file or somthing like that, its not actually gone, it just deletes the entries from the FAT table, but the data is still there but the computer can overwrite them. but the more you use the machine, the more read\writes it puts on the hard drive. the more read writes, the bigger the chance of overwrighting the files that were deleted. Thats why it tells you to put it on an another partiton or another disk.

    Thank you for your response!
I looked at C://Temp and C://WINDOWS/Temp, but could not find the one. :bawling:

Does anyone have any other notions to recover the "cut" document?

I am anticipating your help! Please!

The windows clipboard is cleared at logoff and/or shutdown, and items that have been moved off the clipboard (IE, 25 cuts and copies, item #1 is gone) are also irretrievable.

Thanks, Thrax. I guess it's better to know when it's a lost cause than to just keep tilting at windmills.

    Sorry, Helpneed. :(

I truly thank all of you for your time and a week-long assistance!:)
I think I cannot recover the document, but would you please answer this inquiry?:
I created a folder named "PC Inspector" in CD-RW because PC Inspector File Recovery tool is installable into CD (D-drive); but when I try to install the recovery tool into the folder, "The specified folder D:/PC Inspector is invalid, incomplete or write protected. Please type a full path with drive letter" message appears. I unchecked the Read-only attributes in General tab of the folder's properties, but the Read-only attribute is checked again when I reopen the properties of the folder; I cannot install the recovery tool into the CD-RW. :sad2: Do you have any ideas to install the recovery tool into CD-RW (D-drive)?

Thank you for sticking with me!!!!. ;)

well..im not sure if you could do that, but youd have to have a disc in it, then the installer would have to have a cd writer installed, not likely.

Did you cut an actual file (using Windows Explorer), or cut something in Word? If you cut a file, then copy/cut something else without pasting the file, it stays where it was originally.
