AMD announced today that 3000 single-core AMD Opteron™ processor models x52 and x54 chips have a FP bug "floating point-intensive code". The error happens when the chip runs hot while running FP processes causing inconsistent results

AMD has posted here a test that will allow you to see if your running one of these inconsistent chips, and is offering free replacements for all the affected chips.
Through root cause analysis, AMD identified and corrected a test escape in the test screens that verify processor clock frequency margins for these specific AMD Opteron x52 and x54 processors. AMD and its partners are directly contacting customers who may have potentially susceptible AMD Opteron x52 and x54 products. These single-core AMD Opteron™ processor models x52 and x54 (2.6 GHz and 2.8 GHz) are limited to 152, 252, 852, 154, 254, and 854 only.
