Replace Ethernet Card Or Update Drivers?

Hi All,
My comp is three years old, so I am wondering if I should

a) try to find newer drivers for my current ethernet card that came with the tower (card is a Realtek RTL8139), or

buy a newer card?

I am not sure if a three-year-old card will hold me back, or if the drivers would be more the thing to look at.

Thanks!

I am changing ISP's and going from xDSL to Cable. Anyone who is wondering why should see my response in the netspeed thread- A guy in Lithuania got better results than me! I live in Nova Scotia, where I only have the choice of 1 DSL or 1 Cable provider, and my DSL was just getting ridiculously slow, and I figured it would as good a time as any to upgrade my ethernet card...

Well, i guess you could always update the drivers first and if you do not see an increase then you can get a new card. I put a link to the drivers below, make sure they are correct, Im pretty sure i got it right.

It's probably not your card. You probably have a ****ty ISP. Do a LAN test with SiSoft -- that'll tell you if your card is broken.

Sorry to be so ignorant...the download file is a zip file. I unzip it and there is no readme file to explain how to update it. When I check the properties of my card to see the file names, there is only 1 sys file, and the new driver is several. I went through the install wizard and it didn't really want me to point it at a folder, I think- it wanted ONE file.
Can someone suggest how to update this driver?

    Thanks.
