Can't install other distros?

Here's the problem, I built this box(details below) and installed win xp as the default OS, It worked floorlessly.
Then installed Fedora 5 and chose automatic partitioning dual booting, Then after a week or so I wanted Fedora to be the only OS on the drive, so I reinstalled Fedora, this time I choose the option to Remove all partitions on this system, Fedora is my only OS, Now I'm wanting to see other linux distros on this machine, but I can't install them, went to install Ubunto live disk and got error message about hardware and couldn't install it, So I choose Cento, Susse and it had error message also. All of these distros are on DVD which were purchased. But my Fedora 5 runs floorlessly rock solid? How do I find out the problem? Thanks. fvs

My linux box is:
AMD Sempron 64 2800, Biostar TForce 6100 1GB Corsair, 16X Liteon DVD burner, 80GB Seagate IDE, Realtec sound card, 17" CTR IBM.

Please post the error message you're getting. You won't be able to install other distros to the hard drive without partitioning space for them but you ought to be able to run LiveCDs without any problem.

OK dras, Got this far into the problem,
    [root@localhost soranno]# /sbin/fdisk /dev/hda

The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 9729.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
    1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
    2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
    (e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

    Command (m for help): p

    Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/hda1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux
    /dev/hda2 14 9729 78043770 8e Linux LVM

As you see the statement above, "there could be problems booting and partitioning "software from other OSs"
How do I correct these ?
Also I looked for LILO and it's not in /etc, But Grub is there.

That's a benign error. You're safe to ignore it (it's similar to the error Microsoft's FDISK gives you when formatting large hard drives concerning DOS compatibility). Most people don't use LILO these days anyway and you're probably not going to ever run DOS or OS/2.

To answer your question though, you can't "correct" the error. Fedora simply chose not to inform you if this fact when you partitioned your drive initially.

P.S. lilo is deprecated for amd64 architecture so you couldn't use it anyway.

That's your xorg.conf though, not the one on the LiveCD? Which LiveCD is this?

I posted my fedora xorg.conf to show you what's in there. I don't know how to get the Live disk conf?

You can't change the xorg.conf file on the CD. Your best bet is if you intend to install Ubuntu that you use the installation CD and not the LiveCD.
