Catalyst 3.8 drivers reviews
Alot of interest is being generated about the new Catalyst drivers.. here are a selection of reviews from other sites with a snippet of their thoughts...
“The point of VPU recover is to intercept the cases where the driver stops interacting correctly with the 3D hardware, causing a failure. Occasionally, when this occurs, it can cause the PC to hang resulting in the need for a complete system reboot, which could loose unsaved work. If enabled VPU recover is designed to detect these instances by which the driver has stopped interacting with the hardware and rather than freezing the entire PC, the graphics processor state is reset.”

"And in the corner we have, in the red shorts, ATI and their Catalyst 3.8 Software Suite. In the other corner, NVIDIA in green shorts - the contender holding the current belt. This is fight night ladies and gentlemen; who will reign champion and take the belt?" As dramatic as this may sound, we do have a real fight brewing on our hands, with ATI's Catalyst 3.8 software suite and their recently announced Radeon 9800 XT card. Today, we have the inside track on the new Catalyst driver, what it brings to the table, and its new features!"

"ATI have come a long way in the last year or so. There was a time when ATI driver suites were something that the majority of the enthusiast scene scoffed at but then the Catalyst suite arrived and things changed for the better. Normally here on Ascully.com we do not review drivers, but when ATI contacted us about the new Catalyst 3.8 release we were so excited about it we simply had to give this some coverage. There are so many new features that ATI are calling this release the "most important software release in the history of ATI". From the looks of things this isn't all marketing hype either. Let's take a look at the new features these drivers are about to offer."
