Ok I just got done building one of these for a frined of mine and wondered about some of the Bios settings.
especially for the Dram freq.

His specs

MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R
P4 2.66 533
2-256meg DDR Corsair matched lifetime rated to 400mhz (3200)
MSI GF-5200
120gb WD7200JB
Liteon 5224S CDRW

BTW, this thing flys as it is... :)

But the question I have is during boot up it says 333mhz instead of 400
Not sure of the best Bios settings for stock performance. He's dosen't want to OC...
I have one stick in Dim1 channel A and one in Dimm 3 channel B

Thanks guys,
"g"

Ummm, I guess it would help to know what "PSB" stood for.
    I can choose from
    PSB400, PSB533, PSB800
Assuming that I want to be at stock speeds for a 2.66@FSB533, I would want to be at PSB533 but under that setting in DRAM freq I can only choose something like 333 and 354.
I can't unserstand the math involved here...
Aslo there is the clock default of 133 but I can adjust that but I do not know how high it should be to be at 400mhz FSB on a 533mhz clock... Heck I was able to type in the number 800 but no boot, so I tried several different ones like 400, 200, 166, then back to 133 the system would not boot too far beyond 133, like 135 or so, it was late so I didn't mess with it too much.
but at 200 and above it was not going to boot at all....
I noticed that a higher number also looked like it changed the ratios of the PCI/AGP buss too so I assume that 133 has something to do with the FSB?
So is the FSB quad pumped then and its 133x4 for 533? if so then that is the CPU clock adjustment?
If that is true then what is the 333-354 thing?

I dunno does this make any sence to anyone? I know that I'm getting confused... Think you know something but then they go and change the rules...

    Thx,

maybe you have the dram set to 5:4 or something like that
what you want is 3:2, ram clock : cpu clock, which would 200:133

    200*2=400

i dont know where the exact setting is for this, as i dont own any msi boards myself

I seem to remember reading in all the 875 reviews I've read that you can't select a 400 mem speed with a 533 proc, only the 800 fsb procs. Let me look at a few reviews and check.

    I remembered right, you can't go 400DDR with a 533 proc. Here's a quote from Anantech's MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R review:
Using a 533MHz FSB processor your only options available are dual DDR266 and dual DDR333 mode. With an 800MHz FSB processor your memory frequency options add one other option: dual DDR400 support

well that sucks ass... especially since for intel faster ram clock = YAY!
