Where to Start

It looks like I may be redoing a site for department here at school. The current one is pretty basic but does use php. I know HTML, CSS, and a little javascript. I was just wondering where I should begin to start learning php and if there is any prerequisite information I should review before starting? Also, any suggestions on good sites/books to learn from is appreciated.
