Microsoft has released the first public beta of Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP. Go grab it while it's hot!

WMP11 sports an improved UI, better performance and improved library features. The subscription based service, URGE, is intergrated into the client and offers quick and easy downloads of the latest tunes for $14.95 per month.

    Because napster serves pitiful 128kbps tracks, and the Urge service provides significantly better 192kbps tracks.

    Well, I've had it for a day.

    It's a fight to get all your music files organized the way they should be. And, if you have any live/unreleased/indie stuff in your library, it's doomed to a life of being segregated from the rest of your files. Also, if you have multiple copies of the same song on your computer, it gets fussy.

    The eye candy is nice but it lacks usability.

    I hate it!! Why doesn't Microsoft & other computer software companies give the consumer what they want & stop the monopolistic practices??? Give us individual choices & stop the package concept. WMP11 is a beta for gosh sakes & now it cannot be uninstalled. It has taken over my computer. Thanks, one hell of a lot Billy Boy!
