zquest and generic downloader help

I've got both of these bugs, but nothing will let me clean them. Heres a fresh HijackThis log.

We will have to deactivate Spy Sweeper's real-time protection temporarily as it may interfere with the HijackThis fix.
    1. Open Spysweeper and click on Options > Program Options and uncheck "load at windows startup".
    2. On the left click "shields" and then uncheck everything there.
    3. Uncheck "home page shield".
    4. Uncheck "automatically restore default without notification".
    5. Exit the program.

Launch HijackThis, and place a checkmark by the following entries:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A5FFE2C8-8C93-498B-B455-C1FD23A6ECD7} - C:\Program Files\ASUS\hosecusyn.dll (file missing)
    O4 - Global Startup: svchost.exe
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: UNIMODEM - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rcmps.dll (file missing)

Close all other windows except HijackThis and press "Fix Checked". Then close HijackThis.

    Now let's re-enable SpySweeper.
    1. Open Spysweeper again, and click on Options > Program Options and recheck "load at windows startup".
    2. On the left click "shields" and then recheck everything there.
    3. Recheck "home page shield".
    4. Recheck "automatically restore default without notification".
    5. Exit the program.

    Restart the computer.

Rescan with HijackThis and post the new log here.

Your HijackThis log appears clean. However, since it does not scan the entire system, I will now have you run Panda ActiveScan.
    • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    • Enter your Country
    • Enter your State/Province
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send
    • Select either Home User or Company
    • Click the big Scan Now button
    • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
    • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report, along with a new HijackThis log. Hopefully you should be all cleaned up by now.

Panda Antivirus requires IE, and mine is messed up completely by now. When it opens the window for the scan, the window is blank and won't load. So i can't really do a scan with Panda right now. Housecall won't start at all for some reason, and my internet is painfully slow. Spysweeper and AdAware scans are coming out clean, yet McAfee keeps telling me that i have the Generic Downloader.B trojan but i can't delete, quarantine, or clean the files.

Here's another Hijackthis log, if it will help.

Sorry I have never used McAfee before, does it produce a log? If yes, please post it here.
If no, please check and tell me the full file-path(s) of Generic Downloader.B.
  • edited May 2006
the "infected" file is ABoxInst_int14[1].exe, but i can't find it anywhere on my computer. MWAV detected the Exploit.HTML.CodeBaseExec virus, with the infected file C:\DOCUME~1\LINDSA~1.PAM\LOCALS~1\TEMPOR~1\Content.IE5\KLO56J8Z\send_car_int[1].htm. I'm slowly starting to find different infections, whereas before nothing was being found. I keep finding the same old entries when i use HijackThis, and they keep coming back regardless of whether i fix them or not. This thing is buried. McAfee doesn't keep a log, but it doesn't find anything anyways. Spyware Doctor finds the same files over again, as if the thing keeps regenerating. The slow internet wasn't because of these infections though; that was just a problem with my wireless card. I finally got housecall up and running, i'll post the results when it's finished.
