    Thanks, guys. I'll give DD-WRT a shot as soon as the router arrives. I assume the power increase generates a fair amount more heat. Is this anything I need to worry about?

    Are there any ways to boost the power on client cards?

    whats a good round power to set the output too on the router? and why does the fcc limit the power output if all you have to do is flash the firmware and tweak a few settings? What can possibly happen from a few radio waves?

    If you don't go over 50w (Default is around ~19w), you won't have to worry about heat provided your house isn't like a sweltering 90*F. I assume you have central air, living in Tampa.

    well, I wish I lived in tampa florida. but anyway, yeh. I have Central H/A so if I modded a fan in there I could push some more out of it?:buck:
