I have this dell inspiron 1100 that just craps out after about 2 to 3 hours of use. I've tried a bunch of diagnostics without any obvious problems appearing.. Anyone have any ideas where to go with this?

Is the CPU fan spinning in it? It might be overheating somehow, and shutting down due to heat. What OS does it use? Does it give you a battery warning (even while plugged in) and shut down after that, or no warning at all?

A more specific definition of "craps out" might help. ;)

The stuff GHoos said is one of the most common reasons for laptop glitches.

There are three problem areas with notebooks. Heat and power.....

my friend's laptop had similar problems. There was 1/4 inch of dust stuck to the fins of the heatsink.
