Remote Desktop with sound?

edited May 2006 in Science & Tech
Is there any program that would allow me to remote to my home computer....then run music off of my home computer and listen to it through my work computer? I have yet to find a remote desktop program that would transmit sound.

You could set up a shoutcast server off your home machine with 1 client slot and a password. :) That way, whenever you wanted your music, you could sign on and listen!

The disadvantage is that, unless you're using RealVNC or something to control your server's playlist, you'll be getting the kind of music your playlist gives you.

The remote desktop client that comes with XP allows you to redirect your sound to the local PC. You need to go into Options (before you actually connect), local resources and select 'Bring to this computer' under remote computer sound.

This is a pretty messy way of doing what you want though, I'd suggest looking at The orb for a more elegant way of playing stuff off your home PC wherever you are.
