What is a NTLDR ?

edited June 2006 in Hardware
After trying to reboot after a self induced crash.
I get the message Missing NTLDR ?
Can't seem to get around it ( have a Raid 0)
wondering if its time to get out the Windows disk:scratch:

Either one of the Raid-0 HDDs is failing or the Raid-0 is messed up.

    Missing NTDLR
    Missing NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM or HAL.DLL

You might try having the Windows-CD disk in the CD driver and reboot.
Also make sure that the HDD cables are connected, the might have come lose.

My article often fixes NTLDR errors. NTLDR errors are most often due to a corrupted boot.ini.

    NTLDR

Def. - Short for NT Loader, a program loaded from the hard drive boot sector that displays the Microsoft Windows NT startup menu and helps Windows NT load.

Often a user will see the message "NTLDR is Missing" after attempting to install Windows 2000 or Windows XP, or upgrade a Windows 95-based or Windows 98-based computer to Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The message appears after the first reboot. This occurs only if Windows 95 or 98 has been installed on a drive with the FAT32 file system.
