Buying Laptop

edited June 2006 in Hardware
I'll be graduating pretty soon and my parents agreed to get me a laptop. I recently built a desktop using their money so I don't really want to edge over 1,300. I've been looking around and I saw powernotebooks being mentioned here and there. From their selection I think their PowerPro A 2:24 ULTRA with t2500 1gb ram 7200rpm hd sounds pretty good, but I'm new to laptops so I was wondering if powernotebooks really makes quality laptops and if there are other better options. Thanks

I bought one, and love it :)

I got the 2:17 and it's sooooooo nice. And durable. The 2:24 is similar to mine, I wish it were 17" though cuase I would have bought it instead. For the price of the 2:24 it's just hard to beat if you ask me. I think it comes with an X1600 and a dual core Intel... very nice. I just don't want a 15.4 screen, I enjoy my 17" :)

I just bought a dell inspiron E1705. Theres a $750 rebate if you spend more than $2000, so you can get a computer thats originally 2000 for 1250(is my math right, its 2:50am)

I was eyeing a e1705 with the 750 off deal for a while but decided that the 2:24 would be a better deal excluding the fact that it doesnt come with an OS, but I have a XP cd I can use so meh.

The difference between a 1 sodimm and a 2 sodimm dual channel is 10 dollars in the options. I know its not a big difference $ wise but will i be able to tell the difference?

edit: or should i just get the 512mb and buy some ram at newegg? if so know any good ddr2/667 memory sticks?
