Reports have been popping up around the net that claim ATI isn't really doing to well with their 80nm GPU's. Well HKEPC has sat down with Edward Chow, ATI's Group Marketing Manager, and has found that ATI is well on it's way to 80nm GPU's expected to be done in Q3.
According to Edward, the pilot production with 80nm process was completed by TSMC with satisfactory yield rate. They are now final tuning for the mass production, expected to be done in Q3. The first round production would include mainstream and value products of ATI.
It looks as if ATI won't follow Nvidia with a Quad Crossfire anytime soon.

I think it's sort of a smart move on their side. If they wait a little, and spend some cash in pushing for faster chips rather than more, they'll be ahead, and then they can introduce quad with these fast as hell chips, and nVidia will drop like a 50 lb. sack of potatoes. It's like Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Coke comes out with Coke Vanilla Cherry Blackberry Berry Berry Diet 2 or something and so does Pepsi, but it's too late, now people just think Pepsi is trying to COPY Coke.
