half-life 2 crashing

edited June 2006 in Gaming
Hey guys can you give me any suggestions on this problem? I purchased half-life 2 and I have a brand new system, so I figured I wouldn't have any problems running it. Everything goes well, until about 5 minutes into the game. It trys to load the next section, and the game crashes everytime. I will post my computer specs below, and I hope someone can give me suggestions. I tried shutting down all other programs but that dosen't work. I figured the processor was more than enough, I was thinking maybe the graphics card was the problem. Thanks in advance

Dell Inspirion E1705
Intel CORE DUO PROCESSOR CPU
T2300 @ 1.66GHz/667MHz FSB
512MB,DDR2, 533MHZ 2 DIMM
INTEL INTEGRATED GRAPHICS MEDIA ACCELERATOR 950 GM
60 GB OF HARD DRIVE

Have you tried deleting your cache and redownloading through steam? I'd be looking at the software before the hardware if the game starts properly and dies later...

    Well the reccomended specs are,
    2.4Ghz processor
    512Mb of RAM
    DirectX 9-capable graphics card
You may have problems running it.

Should be no issues with the CPU as it is a 'Conroe/Yonah' based chip, and the MHz rating means little.

You may also want to go and download the latest drivers for your system (support.dell.com) and enter your machine's service tag number to find everything you need. There may have been some updates even though the system is new. The suggestion for clearing the steam cache is good too. I doubt it is a hardware issue.
