I am looking to buy a new router for my mom's apartment... i was a d-link fan at once point, I have no idea why... i've recently started to notice how unreliable they are...at any rate...which should i get for a home network, which i can set up, and its reliable...my mom is terrible with comps and i am too far away to fix stuff... so can anyone help me chose?

the 55 is the new model I suspect, and the 54gl is the linux version that linksys released due to the demand to be able to swap out the firmware with aftermarket firmware. I would go read some reviews to see which one is more reliable, because I dont know, but My BEFSXR41 has never given me anyproblem.

I think i decided to take on the GS model. It seems that pc magazine loves it as well as cnet and other review places. If you guys think this is a terrible idea please post, cuz i will probably be buying it in the next few days

I happily have been using a GS for two years.

i swear d-link must be terrible...i'vehad it for 3 years and i am rdy to change it.. I just bought a d-link adapter for my comp.. I don't get nearly as good as a signal as my lappy, it gets very low as opposed to my lappy (dell e1750) which gets anywhere from good to excellent...that and if you install their wireless software, it installs Anio service...which SLOWS down your comp..and i think it has some spyware stuff
