USB External hard drive problem

Ok so I pulled a 30GB Hitachi hard drive from a HP Notebook and put it in a 2.5" enclosure. The enclosure powers up the hard drive is recognized in Device Manager -> Disk drives as hItAcHi_dk23eA-30 USB Device however it will not show up in disk management so I cannot format it or assign it a drive letter. I know the drive isn't bad because it works if i plug it back into the laptop. Any help is much appreciated. The enclosure is a VANTEC NST-250U2 External Enclosure that i got from newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817145124

    I installed a similar yesterday and it works like a charm. Tried the usb with the power as well? Tried both?

    How any drives do you have in disk managment now?

    Turns out the enclosure was bad. Went out and got a new one and it worked like a charm.
