UPS Service not starting

I searched the midrosoft knowledge base and found a few articals, but no luck with any of them. I'm tryign to get my APC back-UPS LS 700 to work again

any ideas guys?

    When you say it's not starting, what have you tried so far to get it to start?

    i pulled up the services in the administrative tools section of controls panels and get the following error:

    "Could not start the Uninterruptible Power Supply service on Local Computer.

    Error 2481: The UPS service is not configured correctly."

    Do you have the software you need? I have a Belkin, and it has a little program called belkin bulldog that monitors the UPS via Serial port. Also, is the serial/usb connection working?

    i've used the integrated windows software before (it was written by APC) and works fine.... usign a brand new USB cable too, so that's not the problem

    Have you applied any windows updates between the time it worked and didnt work?

    yah, but so far as i know, nothing that woudl play around with UPS.EXE

    I have an APC UPS (the one in my sig) and I have the UPS service disabled in winblows.

    Still, the software works fine without it.
