An Inquirer reader attending a conference in Japan was sitting just feet away from a Dell laptop that suddenly exploded into flames, in what could have been a deadly accident.
"The damn thing was on fire and produced several explosions for more than five minutes". Should you witness such an event, his advice is, "Don't try anything courageous/stupid, stay away, away, away!"

"For the record, this is a Dell machine," notes Guilhem. "It is only a matter of time until such an incident breaks out on a plane," he suggests.
If you own a Dell seriously watch your Manly Hood.

Dell is secretely putting small charges of plastique explosive in the laptops. It is a new data theft prevention tool, if the computer even senses a hacker, the hd explodes thus making it impossible for any data to be robbed.

Apparently it's not the first time either, a South African teenager, daughter of some official or other, was burnt badly when her Dell burst into flames... I suppose you need to be a dill to buy a Dell... I have to say the whole thing is a bit of a laugh... but I wonder if their laughing over at Dell H.Q.?
