ATI has managed to tape out its next big chip dubbed R600, We know that the chip is the first DirectX 10 offering from ATI and it will ship toward the end of Q4 2006, hopefully...
It is the first of the DirectX 10 bits of kit from ATI and we expect it to appear some eight to ten weeks after Nvidia's G80. It looks like everything is on schedule for now. The company has time to tape it out again and it can still meet the Q4 2006 deadline but let's hope it doesn't have to do it.

It means they have there first working batch off the line and running... I think the X1900's were taped out like 4 times as they were not meeting expected requirements, but as you can see it was a good thing they taped out the card to get it where it is today.

... ATi be "tappin' dat ass"? *shrugs*

Aaanyways, it's not like you'll be able to use DX10 will 2008 anyway (yes, I'm expecting more delays on Vista). I'm curious to see some figures of non-DX10 games running on DX10 because Microsoft originally stated that DX9 and below games will basically be running on an emulated version of DirectX due to DX10 being incompatible with previous versions.

I think versions of Vista will roll out in a timely manner. But until mass programs go Vista compatible who cares anyways?

yeah I have Vista and the only thing running on it is office 2007 yeah!
