Anyone ever use an Ag Neovo LCD Monitor?

edited October 2003 in Hardware
I'm looking at buying a flat panel for a second display, something that will take up a little less room than the 19" CRT that is there now.
I came across the Ag Neovo F-419. It's cheaper than most and the specs are quite a bit better than most:
Panel Size 19" (482.6mm)
Brightness 300cd/m2 (Typical)
Contrast Ratio 700:1 (Typical)
Viewing Angle (H/V) 170o / 170o (Minimum)
Display Resolution SXGA 1280 x 1024
Input Signal Digital
Response Time 15ms / 10ms (Typical)
Net Dimension 422 x 410x 220mm (16.6" x 16.2" x 8.7")
Net Weight 6.5Kg (14.3lbs)

How can they make a contrast ratio and response time like that without the high price of other LCD's?

that looks like its a 25ms refresh (15up, 10down) so its the same as most of the other monitors if you look at the total refresh time. besides that the specs look good. If you arent doing a lot of gaming on it, it will be a great secondary monitor!

Yep, look into the Benq monitors if you want fast refresh for a good price. I have an FP767, and it has 16ms TOTAL refresh time! They developed the technology with mitsubishi i think, and sell for a decent price.

I've just bought a Neovo 417F and it seems pretty good quality to me. Mind you, it's my first LCD monitor so I haven't anything else to judge by.

    Cheers

    Crypto,
Does the text look ok in a Word document? How about when you goto a page like hardocp.com?

Remember the high response time LCD's are not 16.7mil colours, only 255,000 or so. What they do is blend it all and not draw as many colours so they can change faster.

So it's not really the best solution, its more visual trickery than anything.

They don't seem to list the display color in the specs...had to look for a while to find the Ag Neovo F-419 shows 16.7mill.
Also looking at a BinQ LCD but they don't show that spec at all.

    Excavator,

I've had a look at Hardocp and it looks fine to me.

I'm running in the highest resolution 1280 x 1024 which shows the text OK.
I believe it is a feature ( ) of TFT screens that they run best at their max resolution.

    I'm happy with it :)

    Cheers

Yeah, they always run best at their max (also called their Native) resolution. As the pixel ratio is 1:1 so it looks perfect (or should do). At other resolutions it has to start doubling pixels and it starts to look crappy.
