Cant install windows xp pro on SATA2

edited June 2006 in Hardware
My brother is having trouble installing windows xp.
He has a 300gig hard drive partitioned into 30gig (windows) and 270gig for anything else, all in NTFS.
He formatted his xp drive drive, then its proceedes through the setup. Goes through setting up the hard drive with file system etc. It then copies files and then when done, needs to reboot. Once rebooted it wants boot from the cd still, i told him to press nothing. If he presses nothing he receives and error saying something is invalid and to press ctrl + alt + del.

If he takes out the cd the computer just continuously restarts.

If he goes through the setup again he just repeats the above process over and over.
I am at loss of what to do

I dont know what the bios settings should be on either.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

comp specs:
amd dual64 4400
mobo: GA-K8N Pro-SLI
The MOBO and driver disc is NVIDIA nForce4 series utility cd.
2 gig ram

Make sure that the hard disk is selected in the system boot sequence.
See the PC manual for the bios setup, or just go through the bios menu.

But is strange that the system keeps on rebooting.
Have you installed the proper bios for you motherboard, using an dual core processor ?

When using SATA hard disk, immediately at system installation start (at first picture), press the key F6 to install the SATA drivers.
Then wait until the system asks for the driver.
I think you are already doing this.
