trying to get some parts cheap

Ok I'm trying to be a mad scientist and so I need some parts.
I can find them on line, But I'm trying to save some money.
So here's the list
Orinoco 802.11b Gold Classic
or
Senoa NL 2511CD-EXT2
PCMCIA -To- PCI
Radio Pigtail Adapter
cantenna
An amplifier. 2.4GHz, either 802.11b
or
802.11b/g, either indoor or outdoor.

    Hmm. Looks like you are trying to make a high power broadcaster? looks interesting. I was looking into the idea once, but the problem is that the client card has to be just as powerful if my thinking is correct.

    My nephew made it and it worked I'm trying to copy what he did
    I'll have to ask if he can transmit with it to
    So he gave me the list of things needed I just have to get them
    He gave me a price list to but I haven't found them for the prices he gave me.
    His prices were alot cheaper than I found that's why I was asking in here.

    cool. One week I had the great idea to build a 50 watt transmitter, but the bad thing is, you could only recieve, you couldnt actually transmit back to the connection unless you had a powerfull enough client card depending where you were. so I figured it wouldnt work.

    but how does that city wide wifi work? because if the antenae is a couple miles away, that is still more than your average ap can transmit too. do they give you a high powered transmitter?
