hi, one of them is 192.168.2.1 , the other person is not on at the moment but the other person usually uses my name as there computer name which freaks me out.

That's an internal IP address which doesn't tell you a whole lot except that some computer has had an IP address from your Belkin.

First of all, a DHCP server hands out IP address "leases" for a set amount of time. The lease will show up even after the computer has disconnected. That's probably why your computer shows after its shut down, though I'm not familiar with the way PCchillin gets its information. A lot of these firewall programs tend to hit the panic button to prove to you what a great job they are doing.

Secondly, I assume this is a wireless router? Is there encryption on it? It is entirely possible some neighbor has just hopped on if there is no encryption.

yes its a wireless router....I have no idea how to do encryption, i guess I should call the number on the belkin box for help lol.... why would a neighbour hop on mine tho? wots wrong with there own??? are they idiots, why do they do that for, is it so they get free internet? I wanna get rid of them, block them or something.

If you have an un-encrypted wireless, fix that before you spend time troubleshooting any more of this. If you can do it by reading the help files or have to call Belkin, do that next.

Your neighbor might just be getting free internet from you. Or it might be something or someone downloading something (kiddie porn?) that they want to be untraceable. Either way, don't ask why, just fix it.

192.168.1.1 is your router. Your router is accessing your computer like it should and your firewall is ignorantly reporting it as an intrusion.

Until we know more about the other IP address, I don't think it's prudent to jump to conclusions about what's going on. I'd need to see the IP address of the second entry before I draw a conclusion.

Sheesh I missed that, you're right I'm sure 192.168.2.1 is the gateway. The only conclusion I'm jumping to is that his wireless is not encrypted. I'm with you on PCchilin, who knows what panic button it might be pushing.

What are the IP addresses of YOUR machines on the network?

That's impossible, that's your external internet IP address. Your LAN IP address will be 196.168.2.something. To be honest I think you're just paranoid and seeing your own machines...

Bring up a 'run' box (click the start menu then Run) and type 'cmd' in it. Then when that box appears type 'ipconfig /all' and paste the output here. Obviously don't actually type the appostrophies.

its not my own machines.. they are MAC addresses... sometimes i have 2 different numbers using my server, one uses my first names.. sometimes there is no one there but there is defin. 3 different ppl seriously. but then again I dont know much about this as im only a gurl :)

Take a screenshot then. What do you mean "they are MAC addresses"? Mac addresses are numbers formatted like 00:01:02:A0:E2:F4. Being a "gurl" isn't a reason for anything.

Also, how do you know there are three people using the network? What are you looking at you give you that information?

Ok, anyway lets try something else. Click "Start" then Settings then click Network Connections. It should bring up a window with icons in it. One of these should have the little parts of the icon lit up and be named "Local Area Network". Right click it and click Status and then click on the second tab along the top when the window appears, it should give you an IP address in the format of 192.168.blah, what does it say?

Fixed over IM. She was being "hacked" by her own machines, heh. PCCillin spreading paranoia.
