With the market growing faster than ever in the technological field the need for advertising has been huge. The world has become dulled with 2D billboards so advertising has been using the digital intelligence display (DID's) method for applications that include indoor and outdoor advertisement bulletin boards in airports, museums and subways. To fulfill these advertising needs Samsung Electronics said it will start volume producing 82" panels for these applications.
Samsung introduced for the first time an 82-inch panel for TV-use in March 2006. The panel has a resolution of 1,920×1,080 and a 180-degree viewing angle. During the FPD International show last October, the company showed the 82-inch directional DID-use panel for the first time.

At the 7G plant Samsung has jointly established with Sony, each substrate can be cut into two 82-inch panels, according to Samsung.

I can't imagine this being more cost-effective than projectors... I guess it'd be good for places that don't have the space to project.

Or places that are too bright to project.
