Spyware on Mac

Hi I have a Macintohs computer, never get any problems, but I was wondering if it was possible to have spyware on a Mac. I know it is unlikely, but lately my computer is very slow and the web browser (Firefox) is acting weird.

Maybe I just need more RAM? LOL. Any advice is helpful, thank you.

The Mac is relatively spyware-free, but the threat is fast growing.
