Is this patch problematic for others? It seemed that my friends gme would run fine on his system before patching, then afterwards it was all but broken. Can't find any useful links in google, and I am not a CoD2 player becuase my CD1 is MISSING so I dunno how it runs on my system.

I installed it a few days ago and have no problem with it.
BTW, you don't need the disc in to play multi.

OK. I have a problem with the 1.3 COD2 Patch. I tried to install 1.3 patch to a clean (1.0) COD2 game. I keep getting the "Feature Transfer Error" and "ERROR:=1610 The configuration data for this product is corrupt". I DL this patch from ACTIVISION. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this game over 1/2 doz. times with the same message. I Installed the 1.2 patch with no problem. I have turned off all programs with the exception of the browser (IE), email, and the clock! No go. I have cleaned the registry with tune-up, defragged, cleaned out temp files under windows and have generally beat my head against the monitor!! I was playing COD2 with the 1.3 patch about a week ago, but the game started to lock up, and eventually I was unable to play. That started the fun! Now, its only with 1.0 and 1.2 patch. persently I have a clean 1.0 COD2. Activision gave a list of fixes, but they did not work.
Any one out there have or has had the same problem and overcame it?

Do you have a dual core CPU? I'm not sure if 1.3 includes this patch but there is one for dual core CPUs, cod2intelpatch_101.exe.

Yes, dual core AMD, 4.2 GHZ. I did at one time have the patch loaded on COD2 and was playing. The problem started when COD2 started to act up to the point the game wouldn't open. When I uninstalled, cleaned the registry and started over again, the game ran fine. However when i tried to install the 1.3 patch again, i get the error messages. I think its a conflict in the registry. I have a feeling that's the problem. When I finally re-installed 1.2 patch, it first asked me if I wanted to uninstalled the patch since it was already installed. That tipped me off that when I originally uninstalled COD2 and cleaned the registry, the 1.2 was left behind. I think that is what is occuring now. I ran the 1610 error code through the REGEDIT, and I come up with a file number: 984F5CFAFB07EDC$CA706CD6CF811610. Anyway, thank you for the info. I will look at that site.
