TaskManager Performance Freak-Out!

Hi,

Lately my PC has been verrrrrry sloooow.

Just clicking on the My Computer icon takes 1 min to actually open the window.

The performance meter in the Task Manager goes right to 100%cpu.

Online scans have found: 1 virus and sometimes 2 or 3???

This morning I ran an online scan and it found 3 viruses but crashed near the end of the scan. Tonight I ran the same scan and it only found 1.

I have attached the HJT log and also 2 online scan logs.

Could someone please take a look at the logs and help me?

Thanks.

About the numerous "Object is locked and skipped" entries in Kaspersky log, a short explanation would be that they are harmless. Your HijackThis log also looks ok to me. About the trojan discovered by BitDefender, did the report inform you about the entire filepath of the infected file?

Yes and I deleted the folder which contained the file that had the virus embedded in it.

I ran another BitDefender online scan this afternoon and it gave the all clear.

Any ideas why the performance meter goes up to 100% when I try to launch anything when i log on??

If I click on Opera icon I get the hourglass icon for 4 secs then it disappears and after a min or so Opera finally launches. The same if I click on anything in the Start menu or the My Computer Icon????

It's driving me crazy...100% cpu makes it almost impossible to do anything.

Can anyone assist me in sorting this out, Please?

Please register (it's free, don't worry) with PCPitStop and run the full tests here:
    http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/default.asp
When the tests are complete, a results page will pop up. Click "Share these results with TechExpress" on the left-hand side. Then copy the URL provided and post it here for me.

Here are the test results. I'd forgotten that I'd neglected to enable system restore after a recent scan in safe mode...

I wasn't sure about my DSL upload/download bandwidth details and gave an incorrect answer but I think the following is the correct info: 512/128mb

Hmm...I don't know what the problem here is. We have confirmed that your PC slowdown problem is not due to malware, but PCPitstop tests also said that your system "performs well on our benchmarks, and should have plenty of power for most applications."

I am out of ideas for now, you might like to ask around at:
