Yeh, I am using a nokia 6010 right now, which I really hate, it is ugly, obtrusive, a little on the heavy side, unfunctional, and did I mention ugly?

Anyway, I want to find a phone that has a camera, bluetooth, and im not sure what else really, I am pretty much clueless on the cellpone market. I dont want anything big, preferably a flip phone, but I really like those new slider phones. Do any of you have sugestions, or any good deals. I am on GSM through Cellular One, so an unlocked phone, or one that can be unlocked by me is a necesity.

I'm not sure how much I want to spend, as I'm not sure how much I can expect to pay, I got this <s>pos</s> phone for free when I got my plan, at the time, I was 15 and was glad to have a phone, now I can afford a nicer phone, and I want one.

Oh yes, about the bluetooth, I dont really want the bluetooth to use a headset, I primarilly want it to transfer photos and such to my computer, but I have heard that sometimes this is disabled so that you are forced to use the carriers network to transfer files, and then you have to pay for it, but If I buy just a retail unlocked phone, that shouldnt be a problem should it?

If I were you I would EBAY cellular one/GSM phones and see what you can find. You can get some GOOD deals on EBay when buying a phone (I bought a Samsung i730 PDA phone for $375 shipped, retail at Verizon is $619.00.)

Better than Bluetooth for transferring files is an SD card. If you can afford a PDA phone with a touch screen I would definitely invest in one. They're handy, look nice, have a million features (several phones also run Win2k3 PPC so you can download/install games and programs for free) and are expandable.

But like I said, check around on EBay to see what is available. Find something you like there, then Google some reviews.

Also, didn't T-Mobile buy Cellular One? I may not remember correctly...anyhow, if your contract is very old you might be able to go to your provider and get a deal for a new phone. I know if you get the right salesman you can probably get what you want with a discount AND (contrary to EBay) a warranty!

No, our contract isnt up for anoth 9 months or so. I dont think that they bought cell one, I wish they did, because that would mean I could talk to all my friends on t-mobil for 'free' (cell to cell) How big is your phone, Im sure a pda phone would be cool, but I want something that will slip into my pocket and not look ackward.

Well the i730 is only for Verizon I believe, and it's on the bigger/heavier side of PDA phones. It has a slide out keyboard which adds some extra thickness.

Search on google or ebay for "GSM PDA" and you should come up with a bunch of stuff. The Palm Treo 650 is nice. The IPAQ 6315 is a good phone too. Both of these have cameras, AND SD slots so you can put files on and take them off really quickly.

How can they make a phone only for verizon, as long as the radio in it transmits on the correct gsm bands, than it should be fine shouldnt it? Unless it is locked.

Cell one caries dual band and tri band phones. the dual band phones are 850/1900, so as long as I get a triband phone 850/1800/1900, I should be fine.

No because Verizon doesn't use the GSM network, it uses the CDMA network. They aren't compatible.

    isnt cdma old tech?

Nope - actually GSM is because it is based on TDMA which is why they drop calls all the time (contrary to there ads)

also, might i suggest switching to verizon, you can now get a razr that has "mutimedia" functions for 70 bucks, this phone has a camera and blue tooth. But i honestly don't reccommend it, it seems too flimsy to me and has no flash on the camera. But, if u open an acct with them, u can get a whole lot of phones for like 200 bucks off their market price

I would definitely stay away from the Razr. I have yet to have a friend praise that phone in any way. People only bought it because it's a blingy hyped up phone. It's flimsy like everyone says, despite that "titanium" shell.

yeh, I dont want a razor, I just want a phone, with a decent feature set, that doesnt weigh a metrick f'ing ton.

I really like the pda phones, but I think that they are just too big for me and what I want to do with it, it would kind of make it hard to sneak into school, not to mention send text messages in class, although, the sheer featureset of the pda phones is enough for me to take a second look. Right now Im riding the fence of:

Sleek Light phone with reasonable feature set || Pretty Large Phone That does it all, except the laundry.
