Flash Storage Devices Recalled for Burn Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC), has announced a voluntary recall of Lexar JumpDrive® FireFly and 1GB Secure II flash devices.
This recall only includes Lexar JumpDrive® FireFly which is sold in various colors, and Lexar JumpDrive® Secure II 1GB which has a metallic silver housing. The recalled products could overheat, posing a risk of burns to consumers and property damage.
Aproximately 66 000 products have been sold at discount department, office supply, and electronics stores, as well as Web retailers, including www.lexar.com, between April and May 2006.
The JumpDrive® Secure II 1GB drive was sold exclusively at Fry’s Electronics in May 2006 for about $80.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled JumpDrive® Firefly and Secure II devices and contact (Lexar or (800) 248-2798 anytime) to receive a free replacement product.
