Sil 3114 BIOS hang
Hi,
MB: GA-K8N Ultra-9
also running a Maxtor ATA 133 expansion card on a PCI slot
current HDD setup:
1* 80gb on IDE 0
1* 250 + 1*200 on Maxtor card
3* 250 on Sil3114 < problem
I'm trying to setup a RAID 5 array (i already know of the performance issue) on this using 3 Maxtor 250GB HDDs (model: 7v250F0, 3.0gb/s)
3 main questions
1. Will the HDDs work fine on the Sil3114 controller as this only supports 150 gb/s. All the drives are detected by the chip.
2. Whenever i setup a Raid array (tried RAID1,0,5 ) on the controller the BIOS hangs after reporting the array.
Goes through POST > Maxtor > Sil3114 > HANG!!!
If i delete the array it boots up normally and i can go to the winxp installation.
3. When running the WinXP installation i hit F6 to install the raid chip, insert floppy and select the "sil3114 raid5 for winxp" driver and it fails to load. is there a specific driver i should be using?
Thanks in advance
