how do you configure XP fonts?

On my home PC, Japanese text is appearing in my Winamp, Japanese Games as squares. At the office PC, the text displays fine. I've cross-checked the settings for the applications and they're all the same, plus i've copied whatever fonts the PC in my office has and installed it into my home PC but there's no change. Besides setting 'Non-Unicode text' under Language Settings in Control Panel to be Japanese, is there any other way? The difference between the PC in my office and the PC at home is:
Office PC => XP Professional service pack 1
Home PC => XP Home Edition service pack 2
Of course the hardware would be different, with the office PC's losing out to the one i have at home, but that wouldn't be a factor would it? Someone help me with this?

You just need to go to a website that uses Japanese on the site itself, then IE will prompt you to download and install the Japanese language pack. I know that www.megetokyo.com is one that will activate this for you.
As I said, I'm sure there is another way or place that you are supposed to get it and install it manually, but this should also work.
But ok, i'll try your suggestions and report back here
As far as the winamp playlist, that's not controled by windows at all, it a winamp thing. I'm not sure if they offer support for Japanese song titles, but you might ask at the WinAmp help forums.
Sorry I can't be more help.
I wish I knew more to tell, but you seem to have stumbled on an issue that not many of us seem to have experience with.
